Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Whole Wheat Flour | 1 cup |
ghee | 1/2 cup |
water or milk | 1 cup |
sugar | 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup |
cardamom powder | 1/2 teaspoon |

Preparation
In a pot, add 1 cup water or milk and half cup sugar.
Heat the water and sugar till the sugar dissolved in it.
Let the solution come to a boil. We have to add this hot boiling sugar solution to the flour mixture once it is roasted well. But do make sure that there are no thread consistencies formed in the sugar solution. The sugar solution just needs to come to a boil.
Meanwhile, in another heavy pot or pan/or nonstick pan, add ½ cup ghee add 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta). Roast the whole wheat flour, stirring continuously till the color of the flour changes. Roast the atta on a low to a medium-low flame.
Then add the bubbling hot sugar and water solution to the atta mixture. be careful as the mixture has the tendency to splutter.
Keeps stirring continuously and add cardamom powder in it. The halwa will absorb water and will continue to thicken quickly.
When the wheat halwa consistency becomes thick like a Sooji halwa and the ghee is also released from the sides. Turn off the flame.
- serve this Halwa hot.
